Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Life Science Publisher to join our dynamic team. The Life Science Publisher will be responsible for overseeing the publication of scientific content related to life sciences, including research articles, journals, books, and online resources. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in life sciences, excellent project management skills, and a deep understanding of the publishing industry.

Responsibilities

1. Content Management:
    • Collaborate with authors, researchers, and editorial teams to ensure high-quality scientific content is developed and published.
    • Review and assess submitted manuscripts for scientific accuracy, relevance, and adherence to publication guidelines.
    • Coordinate the peer-review process to ensure timely and constructive feedback is provided to authors.
    • Work closely with authors to revise and refine manuscripts based on reviewer comments and editorial feedback.

 

2. Publication Strategy:
    • Develop and execute a strategic plan for publishing a diverse range of life science content, including journals, books, and digital resources.
    • Identify emerging trends and topics in the life sciences field to guide content acquisition and publication decisions.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including editorial, marketing, and production, to ensure seamless execution of publication plans.

3. Quality Assurance:
    • Ensure all published content meets rigorous standards of scientific accuracy, integrity, and ethical considerations.
    • Implement best practices for maintaining the highest level of editorial and publication quality.

 

4. Team Management:
    • Lead and manage a team of editorial and production staff, providing guidance, training, and mentorship.
    • Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that encourages professional growth and development.

 

5. Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Engage with authors, researchers, and scientific communities to foster relationships and gather insights for improving the publication process.
    • Represent the organization at conferences, workshops, and industry events to promote our publications and build partnerships.

 

6. Technology Integration:
    • Stay updated on technological advancements in publishing and implement innovative tools and platforms to enhance the publishing process and user experience.

 

7. Financial Management:
    • Collaborate with the business development team to set pricing strategies for published content to ensure revenue generation while maintaining accessibility.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in a life science field, preferably with a strong publication record.
  • 15 years post-college proven experience in scientific publishing, including editorial roles and content management.
  • Deep understanding of the life sciences landscape, emerging trends, and research methodologies.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
  • Proficiency in using publishing software and platforms.
  • Knowledge of ethical standards and practices in scientific publishing.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for building and maintaining relationships with authors, researchers, and stakeholders.
  • Business acumen for financial decision-making related to publishing.
