Position Overview

That’s Nice, a New York science marketing agency, is looking to hire an experienced recruitment specialist as its Manager, Talent Acquisition to lead a priority endeavor to hire 30-35 roles across different departments and help with vetting and onboarding of new hires. The role will build our employment brand, developing a recruiting program. The current wave of hires will include creative staff (web & graphics), writers, market researchers, and account / project management, among others, at both junior and senior level.

A background in HR could lead to expansion of the role, but recruitment is the immediate focus. Experience recruiting for agency roles would be an advantage, as would knowledge of scientific markets, as these are the company’s client base.

Job Requirements

In order to perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • An experienced recruiter with a successful track record
  • A history of growing small and mid-size businesses rapidly with recruitment programs
  • Good people skills and expertise evaluating candidates
  • 5+ years of experience in recruiting
  • Knowledge / skills in Microsoft Office and other relevant software
  • Experience recruiting for an agency business and/or in life sciences
  • Broader HR experience would be desirable

Job Duties / Responsibilities

Recruitment Process

  • Create and manage a company recruitment process
  • Engage in departmental communication to fully understand new hire requirements and ensure recruiting aligns with current / future workforce needs
  • Strategize and execute on channels for recruitment, including but not limited to ads / publications, websites, apps, job fairs, educational institutions, referrals
  • Screen job applications and candidate resumes
  • Source and recruit qualified candidates by using databases, social media, etc.
    • Create, place, and monitor ads
  • Co-ordinate scheduling of interviews, oversee preparation of interview questions and other hiring / selection materials, and conduct in-depth first interviews
  • Track recruiting and sourcing efforts, reporting on progress
  • Other duties relating to identification and recruiting of top talent

Onboarding Process

  • Coordinate all administrative aspects of new hire onboarding to ensure an engaging onboarding and training experience, working in conjunction with Business Logistics Manager
    • Onboard new employees to become fully integrated, and monitor initial integration and success in role
    • Coordinate with department heads to optimize the work environment
  • Mentor / monitor new hires in their first 12 weeks of employment
    • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings to drive success
    • Provide timely, constructive coaching and feedback
    • Act as point of contact and build influential relationships during onboarding process
