FMC Lithium manufactures butyllithium and organometallics for synthetic rubber production, as well as pharmaceutical and agricultural applications.
Hazards inherent in butyllithium and other organometallics mean FMC Lithium has stringent safe handling procedures for its facilities around the world. Given the nature of these products, it is a high priority for FMC to provide customers with the most up-to-date safe handling information. Procedures were being updated in a coordinated effort between North American, European, and Asian offices.

FMC was seeking to create two new printed safe handling guides – Butyllithium and Organometallics & Reactive Specialty Organics – as well as making all safe handling information available and searchable online.
The challenge involved managing the diverse and extensive flow of complex technical input with a file management system and reviews by FTP-shared PDFs. The objective was clear, disciplined, aesthetically pleasing information delivery.
