Urban Redevelopment

One of the specialized services that has been provided by That's Nice since 1995 is consultancy on identity and exterior signage design for integration into urban landscape and waterfront rejuvenation projects.

We work in conjunction with teams comprising architects, landscape architects, engineers, lighting experts, and other specialists on urban redevelopment projects that are typically for city agencies or business improvement districts. These projects are managed by entities such as New York City Economic Development Corporation, who are responsible for project management and coordination. We consult on signage, working from schematic stages through to design development and delivery of construction drawings.

Signage systems for urban redevelopment can be broken down to identity-based signage, cautionary & directional signage, maps and navigation, and historical information signage. Documentation of our work such as the East River Bikeway & Esplanade and Staten Island September 11 Memorial - including VENDEX forms and Standard Forms 254/255 - is available to practitioners embarking on urban redevelopment projects.
