Overview

We are seeking a Marketing Writer to write, edit and proofread marketing copy for digital, print, trade show, video and advertising projects serving clients in these technically complex markets. Success on the fundamental level will be defined as taking content projects to client approval without the interjection of existing senior-level writing and strategy staff. This requires ongoing accumulated knowledge of client subject matter and content development that is high quality, appropriate to the objective, and successfully interprets the client’s needs.

The Marketing Writer will need to interpret messaging strategy that either already exists or comes from an internal process completed by our company’s strategy team. In certain instances, the Marketing Writer may be involved in the conceptual development of messaging strategy for clients.

Job Requirements

  1. Minimum 5 years of experience as a writer in agency or corporate marketing, or publishing related to pharma and healthcare.

  2. Ability to produce marketing content for various client tactics in diverse markets within pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and broader life sciences.

  3. Ability to learn enough information about clients’ subject matter to originate marketing material with technical authority and accuracy.

  4. Ability to take industry-specific original material and edit it into appropriate compelling copy relative to the application and audience.

  5. Proactive approach in doing their own research to further their understanding of client material.

  6. Ability to manage own projects fully, from organization of source material to origination and client approval of content for brochures, sell/tech sheets, animation concepts and scripts, websites, some advertising and direct communications.

  7. The ability to take accurate briefs from an account manager or possibly directly from a client – interpreting needs, then communicating internally and working with the full project team, providing ideas and the written aspect of solutions. Understanding of client's subject matter and verbiage is important.

  8. Diplomacy to complete marketing content with heavy internal feedback or client direction, absorbing this feedback into the project evolution.

  9. Text drafts and ideas should be very organized and delivered in an applicable format (typically MS Word), with no spelling or grammatical mistakes. All documents must be professionally completed to a company template suitable for external distribution.

  10. The ability to speak clearly and present ideas to a group in a focused, succinct and structured way. Style should be adapted so that the audience understands the issues being communicated.

  11. The role will work with a team of account managers, researchers, designers and other roles. The successful candidate will be expected to integrate and compromise effectively on project development with the common goal of exceeding each client’s needs.

Work Environment

  1. The Marketing Writer role is based at our office on Fifth Avenue, near Union Square in New York, NY.

  2. This role is office-based, in an open space with other staff, visitors in and out and occasionally music playing, which creates a lively environment. The successful candidate must be comfortable that they can work effectively on content development in these circumstances.

  3. The Marketing Writer will need to read, understand and follow standard office practices, procedures and policies.

  4. That’s Nice LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Hours, Remuneration & Benefits

  1. Basic hours of work are five days per week (Mon-Fri), 9am – 6.30pm, with 1 hour lunch. Additional hours may be necessary at times to complete projects under deadlines.

  2. Nine public holiday days across the year are observed with office closure.

  3. Bonus: Based on sales performance of content projects over the calendar year.

  4. Benefits: Eligibility after 12 weeks probationary period (Aetna health plans, dental plans, vision plans, life insurance, disability plans, AD&D plans, commuter benefit options)

  5. Vacation: 15 paid days annually, earned after 12 week probation (pro-rated to calendar year)
